person still missing. the ship went down yesterday in clear and sunny weather about eight miles from vancouver island. 27 people were on board. don champ champion has our report. >> reporter: canadian coast guard crews searched through the night searching for people still missing after a whale watching boat sank off the coast of vancouver island. >> we have great resources out there and this is what we do.

sea after makingdent, alec deck suspects the three-deck cruiser was side-swiped by a whale. >> this time of the year, we have big surges happening out in what happened. >> reporter: the boat is one of the largest in the company's fleet. the company went through another deadly accident in 1998 when one of their vessels cap-sized during an excursion killing the boat's captain and a german tourist. don champion, cbs news. millions across the southeast face dangerous flooding today. remnants of hurricane patricia will bring flash flooding to the gulf coast. students in university of louisiana swamped around in parlgs parking lots. in houston, dozens of rescues were made on sunday. a san antonio man is safe this morning after being swept away while searching for his dog.

witnesses say when the car plowed into the crowd on sat bodies flew in the area. four people were killed including a former professor and a 2-year-old. chambers' attorney says she was is not drinking. >> based on my experience of mental illnesses before, she has the ben carson either tied or ahead of trump in iowa. >> reporter: trump says he is surprised and doesn'tnd the iowa polls and now the rhetoric is heating up.

when joe biden decided not to run. he told norah o'donnell last night on "60 minutes" he didn't think he would win. >> reporter: you wouldn't consider running for president unless you thought or had some doubts about hillary clinton. >> not at all. that has nothing to do with it. i've said from the beginning! look. i like hillary. hillary and i get along together. only reason to run is still think i could do a better job than anybody else could do. that is the only reason to run. i wouldn't run against hillary. >> reporter: you said in the rose garden the democrats should run on the record. >> that's right. >> reporter: the president's record. >> i believe that. >> reporter: do you think hillary is running on that or something else? >> she will run on part it and made a decision on two important things and doesn't mean she won't be a great president. >> you can see more of norah o'donnell's interview with the

opinions on the osama bin laden raid. army master sergeant joshua wheeler's coffin was carried. dramatic new video takes us inside that daring mission by u.s. and kurdish forces to free isis hostages. elizabeth palmer reports from erbil, iraq. >> reporter: in the video captured by a helmet camera, prisoners are helped along by kurdish forces. in the background you can hear constant gunfire as kurds and special american forces battle isis fighters who ferocious initial resistance killed master sergeant wheeler. there is a glimpse of a huge isis flag. and jail cells built inside the house of a tribal leader. when the prisoners first came out, 69 of them in all.

but you can hear there is american backup. >> hey, hold it right there. >> reporter: these are not the prisoners the raid was designed to rescue. the kurds had hoped to find 20 of their own fighters who were kaurped and captured and paraded by isis back in february. as soon as the raid was finished, a aircraft flew over the compound and destroyed it with a bomb. in the video posted by isis shows the wreckage and the casualties of a ferocious battle. in all say the kurds, isis lost 20 men. along with the 69 prisoners, the raid also captured six live isis fighters who will be a very valuable source of information for both the americans and the kurds as they try and build up a more complete picture of how the group is structured and, of course, how it operates. elizabeth palmer, cbs news,

minutes before midnight strikes deadline, united autoworkers and general motors reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract. the proposed deal is expected to cover long-term wage increases and job security. local uaw workers will vote on that agreement on wednesday. strong earnings from big-name tech companies rallied the market. the dow finished 434 points higher. the s&p gained 42 and moving back into positive territory for the year. the nasdaq jumped 145 points. gas prices dropping ten cents the past two weeks. the average price of a gallon of regular is $2.24. analysts warn that the price drop could end if the cost of crude oil remains at current levels. toyota is the top automaker when it comes to global vehicle sales. it announced this morning it

this might be the swortsports highlight of the week. a deer charging across a youth soccer field and it kicks a goal before the goalpost before trotting off into the woods! in "sunday night football," carolina was aebleble to rally against philadelphia to stay unbeaten. in the third quarter cam newton threw a short pass to the right of mike tolbert. he broke three tackles to get into the end zone for the touchdown. carolina's defense held on and they beat the eagles 27-16. a dramatic finish to the giants/cowboys game. the game tied at 20-20, cowboys dwayne harris raced a hundred yards for the score. the giants defeated the cowboys 27-20. the new england patriots are still unbeaten after tom brady completed two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter against the new york jets.

we started our last week -- we start our last week on the home stretch to halloween. metinka: it is looking great out there. no rain to worry about. 47 degrees in des moines. 34 degrees there. it will be a beautiful fall day. clouds will be on the increase but no rain is expected. by noontime, temps will be comfortable in the upper 50's, headed for a gorgeous 65. we will need the umbrella tomorrow. eric: breaking overnight, it a chase ends with a car -- it all unfolded at 10:00 last night. the driver of a stolen car hit a utility pole before going through that garage, hitting another car. two people ended up having to be taken to the hospital. we have not been told how they are doing. after a foot chase, the driver
